SpaceCell was founded on a straightforward premise: acting on data in real time is a structural competitive advantage, and it should not require a fragmented stack of specialist tools to achieve it.
The modern analytics stack forces apart what belongs together. Streaming infrastructure, statistical computing, and data transformation live in separate systems, maintained by separate teams, translating between each other constantly. The overhead is not incidental — it is the cost of making tools talk to each other that were never designed to. That cost accumulates quietly until it is either a line item that cannot be defended or a latency gap that cannot be closed.
Lightning brings those layers together into a single production engine. The ambition is straightforward: live analytics should be the default for any organisation that competes on the speed of its decisions, not a capability reserved for those with the budget and specialist headcount to assemble one.
Founder & CEO
Peter Bower is the founder of SpaceCell Enterprises and the principal engineer behind Lightning. He has spent more than fifteen years building data and AI systems in environments where latency, correctness, and operational reliability directly affect outcomes — defence, financial trading, insurance, healthcare, and high-growth technology teams.
Across those domains, the same pattern kept appearing: organisations had the data, the models, and the engineering talent, but the stack complexity stood between the event and the decision, creating too many translation layers both in terms of the tech and alignment.
Lightning is the result of taking that problem seriously. It brings data manipulation, statistical computing, and live streaming into one production engine, so teams can simplify and amplify market signals without sacrificing power.
Peter is also the author of Minarrow, a Rust-native Apache Arrow-compatible columnar analytics library, available as open source.
